This is a full-time, fixed-term position offering a competitive salary of approximately £40,000 per annum.

Job Overview

We seek an experienced Research Manager to lead our efforts in developing a tool for assessing institutional capacity for climate change adaptation research across African universities and research institutions.

The successful candidate will work in partnership with the Association of African Universities' (AAU) collaborating researcher and the ACU's research elements of the International Development Research Centre (IDRC)-funded Climate adaptation research Organisational Assessment Tool (CO-CAT) project.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a research plan to assess institutional capacity for climate change adaptation research
  • Conduct literature reviews, stakeholder engagement, and data collection to inform the development of the CO-CAT tool
  • Collaborate with researchers from African universities and research institutions to develop a robust and user-friendly tool
  • Write comprehensive reports and present findings to stakeholders
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A degree in a relevant field (such as climate science, environmental studies, or international development) and/or equivalent experience in research management and climate change adaptation
  • Excellent research skills, including research design, participatory research methodologies, desk research, and primary data collection methods
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities under pressure
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
