Family Safeguarding Social Worker Specialist

We are seeking a qualified Family Safeguarding Social Worker to work with our teams in Somerset, UK, supporting and developing motivations for change among vulnerable young people and families.
You will have manageable caseloads, allowing you to be an innovative and creative social worker. You will undertake direct work with children and young people to understand their experiences and provide them with a voice.
With permanent and experienced Team Managers, you will receive regular supervision, both group and personal. Our team offers a supportive environment where you can develop your skills and make a positive difference in the lives of people in Somerset.
We are committed to developing our use of motivational interviewing to support families in identifying opportunities for change and working towards achieving and sustaining this alongside them, in partnership with multi-agency partners.
As a valued member of our team, you will be encouraged to attend our regular Continuing Professional Development (CPD) sessions and supported to attend training opportunities.
Key Responsibilities:- Work alongside adult-focused practitioners in specialist areas such as substance misuse, domestic abuse, and mental health to inform assessments and plans.
- Support children and families facing complex challenges, including neglect, sexual harm, physical harm, risks outside the home, and parental learning difficulties.
- Work with parents and family networks to identify strengths, tackle problems, and change interactions and behaviors through Family Group Conferencing.
- UK experience working with children and families in social work within a Local Authority team is essential, including experience in family courts.
- Be a qualified social worker registered with Social Work England and have the right to work in the UK.
- Demonstrate passion for relationship-based social work, pride in your profession, and the ability to think creatively about building relationships that make a positive difference to children and families.
- Have a full driving license and access to your own vehicle, as travel is required within the county.
