Full-Time Social Work Opportunities in Somerset

We are looking for a skilled and dedicated Family Safeguarding Social Worker to work with our team in Mendip, Somerset, supporting children and families facing complex challenges.

As a key member of our team, you will receive regular supervision, both group and personal, and have the opportunity to develop your skills and make a positive difference in the lives of people in Somerset.

Our team is committed to developing our use of motivational interviewing to support families in identifying opportunities for change and working towards achieving and sustaining this alongside them, in partnership with multi-agency partners.

You will have manageable caseloads, allowing you to be an innovative and creative social worker, undertaking direct work with children and young people to understand their experiences and provide them with a voice.

We value teamwork and collaboration, providing a supportive environment where you can grow and develop your skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Work with children and families facing complex challenges, including neglect, sexual harm, physical harm, risks outside the home, and parental learning difficulties.
  2. Work alongside adult-focused practitioners in specialist areas such as substance misuse, domestic abuse, and mental health to inform assessments and plans.
  3. Support children and families by identifying strengths, tackling problems, and changing interactions and behaviors through Family Group Conferencing.
  4. Have a full driving license and access to your own vehicle, as travel is required within the county.
  5. Be a qualified social worker registered with Social Work England and have the right to work in the UK.
