The PhD programme in Translational Biomedical Sciences at Karlstad University and its partner institutions is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of biomedical research. The programme focuses on cutting-edge research in areas such as cancer, neurological, inflammatory or infectious diseases, antimicrobial resistance, or global health.

During the 4-year programme, you will complete a 1-year MRes period, choosing three rotation projects alongside taught modules and practical training. In the subsequent 3 years, you will undertake your PhD, usually developing one of your rotation projects.

iCASE students can select their PhD project from year 1. You will be part of a vibrant student community and have access to flexible study options, on-site childcare facilities, state-of-the-art sports facilities, and a range of cultural events.
