Job Summary

As a key member of the Forestry Commission team, the Health and Safety Manager will play a crucial role in ensuring the organization's compliance with health and safety regulations. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing guidance and support to colleagues across the organization, promoting a positive safety culture, and managing a team of SHE Advisers.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and standards across the organization

• Develop and implement effective health and safety policies and procedures

• Provide technical guidance and support to colleagues on health and safety matters

• Manage a team of SHE Advisers, providing coaching and development opportunities

• Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies to minimize risks

• Investigate accidents and incidents, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions

• Develop and maintain a corporate risk register and associated documents

• Collaborate with the Head of Health and Safety and Technical Training to develop and implement health and safety strategies

• Engage with staff at all levels to promote a positive health and safety culture

• Provide management information to the organization to ensure priority agenda items remain visible

• Review and update Policy/Process/Guidance (PPG) documents as required

Person Specification

• NEBOSH certificate or equivalent

• Chartered Membership of IOSH or working towards gaining Chartered Membership of IOSH

• Proven experience in health and safety management, including team management and risk assessment

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues at all levels

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
