About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Engineering Buyer to join our team at Colas Rail UK. As an Engineering Buyer, you will be responsible for ensuring the timely procurement of parts and services supporting our locomotive maintenance plans.

You will work closely with various stakeholders, including Finance, Commercial, Production, Engineering, and Procurement, to maintain a good relationship with our suppliers and ensure a price index. Your attention to detail and ability to think bigger picture will be essential in this role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Request quotations and raise requisitions for services and spares
  • Acknowledge and process the receipt of services (Goods Receipt Notes)
  • Update and maintain Purchase Order Numbers and Supplier Invoices
  • Manage invoice queries to completion
  • Provide support in budgeting, forecasting, and period-end reporting
  • Manage the repairable asset list in line with maintenance requirements
  • Raise work orders as required
  • Ensure timely procurement of parts and services
  • Scrutinize external contractors' work sheets and highlight uncertainties to the engineering team
  • Perform general administrative tasks
  • Maintain a good relationship with suppliers and a price index
  • Set up and manage stock balance loads to support the maintenance regime
  • Forecast future stock requirements
