Financial Controller Role Summary:

This position involves collaborating closely with the Chief Financial Officer to oversee the financial aspects of the hotel's operation. The successful candidate will ensure that all financial policies and procedures are adhered to, safeguarding hotel assets and resources, and maximising hotel profitability.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Cost Review and Savings Implementation: Conduct thorough reviews of costs and implement processes to achieve savings.
  • Departmental Collaboration: Foster close working relationships with other hotel departments to ensure Heads of Departments understand departmental Key Performance Indicators.
  • Margins Review: Conduct regular reviews of margins and identify areas for improvement.
  • Revenue & Payroll Forecasts: Prepare and review weekly, monthly, and year-end forecasts, comparing actual versus forecast performance.
  • Month-End Process: Lead the hotel's month-end process, ensuring all necessary tasks are completed.
  • Weekly/Daily Meetings: Organise and lead weekly/daily meetings with Heads of Departments, providing support to the hotel in all areas of accounts and finance.
  • Income Audit Management: Ensure the accuracy, consistency, and completeness of income audits.
  • Payroll Management: Oversee weekly and monthly payroll, including analysis and control.
  • Debtors Management: Regularly review Debtors Ledgers and PM Accounts to ensure tight controls on credit and timely collection of debts.
  • Creditors Management: Oversee the hotel's purchasing system, reconcile creditor statements, and address supplier queries.
  • Forecasting: Monitor key trends, variances, and assess current and future business risk, implementing alternative strategies as needed.
  • Journals and Balance Sheet Control: Ensure all journals are processed and reviewed, and reconcile all balance sheet control accounts, including accruals and prepayments.
  • Management Accounts: Ensure timely and accurate monthly Management Accounts are prepared.
  • Internal & External Audit: Assist with internal and external audit processes.
  • Property Audit: Implement an effective program of Property Audit, addressing corrective actions promptly.
  • Budgeting: Collaborate with the CFO to prepare numbers, ensuring they are logical and align with the property's strategy.
  • Internal Control: Maintain adequate internal control over revenues, expenses, assets, and liabilities of the resort.
