Lead VFX Artist Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and ambitious Lead VFX Artist to join our team and contribute to the creation of visually stunning effects in our Total War franchise.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with Art directors to define the art style for VFX across different projects.
  • Develop and implement world-class VFX content for previsualisation, benchmarks, and visual development.
  • Lead and mentor the VFX team, providing guidance and feedback to ensure high-quality results.
  • Work closely with the production team to plan and deliver VFX content on schedule and to the highest standards.
  • Research and implement emerging visual effects technology to stay competitive with industry trends.
  • Ensure seamless integration of VFX with other game elements, such as design, animation, and lighting.
Requirements:
  • 5+ years of experience in game development, with 3+ shipped titles.
  • Expert knowledge of one or more 3D packages.
  • Strong understanding of Photoshop, Substance, and other 2D editing or texturing software.
  • Ability to create animated textures, simulations, and associated 2D content.
  • Experience with mesh-based VFX, including mesh creation, shaders, and materials.
  • Basic animation understanding and skills to implement timing in VFX.
  • Understanding of colour theory, visual design, and composition.
  • Proactive and results-oriented approach, with excellent time management skills.
  • Experience with VFX performance and optimisation for various platforms.
  • Strong awareness of industry technology trends.
