About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead VFX Artist to join our team at Creative Assembly. As a key member of our VFX team, you will be responsible for leading the creation of high-quality visual effects for our games.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with Art Directors to define the art style for VFX across multiple projects.
  • Develop and implement world-class VFX content, including pre-visualization, benchmarks, and visual development.
  • Lead and mentor a team of VFX artists, providing guidance and feedback to ensure high-quality results.
  • Work closely with the production team to plan and deliver VFX content on schedule and to the highest standards.
  • Research and implement emerging visual effects technologies to stay ahead of industry trends.
  • Collaborate with other teams, including design, animation, and graphics, to ensure seamless integration of VFX into the game experience.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience in game development, with 3+ shipped titles.
  • Extensive experience with real-time VFX authoring tools.
  • Expert knowledge of one or more 3D packages.
  • Strong understanding of Photoshop, Substance, and other 2D editing or texturing software.
  • Ability to create animated textures, simulations, and associated 2D content.
  • Basic animation understanding and skills to implement timing in VFX.
  • Experience in lighting and image processing.
  • Understanding of colour theory, visual design, and composition.
  • Proactive, results-oriented approach with excellent time management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Experience leading a team.
  • Experience on AAA titles.
  • Unreal/Unity or other commercial engine experience.
  • Experience working with contractors or outsourcers.
  • Experience developing FX for strategy games.
  • Technical understanding of rendering, lighting, and physics.
