The Role

As a Sales and Customer Relationship Manager, you'll manage and develop existing and new customer relationships, increasing branch sales and margins, and enhancing the customer experience. You'll support the Branch Manager in leading and motivating the branch team to achieve sales, gross margin, and other key business targets.

You'll be responsible for growing branch sales and margins by proactively chasing sales opportunities, finding new business, and developing relationships with new and existing customers. You'll engage with customers over the trade counter and by telephone, providing excellent customer service and advising them on the most suitable and advantageous products.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Identifying and capturing new sales opportunities
  • Helping to exceed branch sales, margins, and gross profit
  • Responding positively and effectively to customer needs
  • Building rapport and providing excellent customer service
  • Agreeing the best possible margin when negotiating with customers
  • Managing and ensuring the sales team meets their KPIs
  • Cultivating and maintaining exceptional standards of customer service

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

  • Previous external sales or telesales experience in a builders merchants
  • Demonstrated positive and friendly attitude and ability to manage a team
  • Ability to develop knowledge of the company, its products, and the elements required to be successfully employed in the business
  • Excellent communication, influencing, and negotiating skills
  • Ability to prioritise responsibilities under pressure and be self-motivated
