As a Chaplaincy Volunteer, you will play a vital role in supporting patients, relatives, staff, and chaplaincy colleagues, fostering a positive and respectful environment.

In this position, you will engage with patients, listen to their stories, and promote the work of the Chaplaincy. Your ability to build rapport with patients, staff, and visitors is essential, as well as your willingness to pray with patients or refer them to the Chaplain for further care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Approach patients respectfully, introducing yourself and your role
  • Listen actively to patient or carer stories
  • Promote the Chaplaincy's work in general
  • Develop relationships with patients, staff, and visitors
  • Pray with patients if requested or find someone who can
  • Refer patients to the Chaplain for further pastoral care when needed
  • Some volunteers take Holy Communion to the bedside, if licensed to do so by their denomination
  • Participate in team discussions and training as required
Requirements and Skills
  • Experience in pastoral visiting
  • Active member of faith or pastoral group
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team

Estimated Salary: £18-20 per hour
