About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Environmental Engineer to join our team at Waterman Aspen. As a key member of our West Midlands team, you will play a crucial role in delivering projects for our clients and contributing to the growth and success of our business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Liaise with clients' Environment teams, Highway Designers, Programme Delivery teams, and National Highways to ensure seamless project delivery.
  • Lead weekly resourcing and progress meetings to drive project momentum.
  • Monitor contract inboxes, respond to queries, and maintain scheme delivery trackers.
  • Review new task briefs and produce fee proposals in line with NH requirements.
  • Contribute to bid preparation and the work-winning function.
  • Input into programme development, attend progress meetings, and coordinate site work.
  • Manage change processes, raise early warning notifications, and compensation events as required.
  • Monitor progress and deliver reports on time.
  • Support clients in managing workload across the team.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry best practices.
Requirements
  • An undergraduate degree in Environmental Science or a similar/equivalent subject.
  • Experience in project management, preferably in environmental projects within the transport sector.
  • Membership of a professional body or relevant qualifications/experience leading to membership (e.g., IEMA, IES, APM, or similar).
  • Experience working in a multi-disciplinary environment interacting with environmental disciplines, design teams, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Experience in contract management (e.g., CEMAR) is desirable.
  • Ability to manage budgets, resourcing, and plan workload to deliver project stages on time and on budget.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the aptitude to explain, explore, and discuss environmental issues.
  • Experience using Microsoft packages, including MS Project and Excel.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Forward thinking and interested in developing efficient and pragmatic ways of working with teams to realize client and operational objectives.
  • Demonstrable experience of working in a collaborative or joint venture environment is highly desirable.
