About the Role

This is a part-time opportunity to work as an Editorial Administrator for Oxford University Press, supporting the day-to-day administration and operations of our Editorial Office.

As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth running of the peer review process, managing manuscript submissions, and providing administrative support to our editors and authors.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Monitoring manuscript progress through our submission system, sending reminders as necessary, and alerting colleagues to potential issues.
  • Managing the Editorial Office email account, providing timely and appropriate support to stakeholders, and triaging to colleagues as needed.
  • Organizing weekly Editorial Office meetings, including producing agendas and writing up minutes.
  • Providing data analytical support for Editorial Office reports and ad-hoc projects, helping to maximize the quality and standing of our journals.
  • Liaising with external service providers and suppliers to ensure cost-effective utilization of services and supplies.
  • Processing Editorial Office invoices and ensuring editorial lists are systematically updated.
  • Collaborating with freelance editorial staff to create effective hand-over notes and ensure a seamless experience for customers and clients.

This is a fully remote position based in the UK, with a 17.5-hour workweek and flexible scheduling options.

About You

We are looking for an experienced Administrator with a passion for publishing and a keen eye for detail. If you have a background in administration, a desire to learn about academic publishing, and excellent communication skills, we encourage you to apply.

Key requirements include:

  • Experience with manuscript submissions systems and data analysis.
  • Familiarity with publishing or academia, with a preference for those with a scientific or medical background.
  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • High-level IT skills, including Microsoft Office and data analysis tools.
