We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Children's Support Worker to join our team at Vetro Recruitment. As a Senior Children's Support Worker, you will be responsible for leading by example and supporting the management team to run the shift, mentoring and supporting newer staff members, and encouraging young people to participate in activities and take responsibility for their own lives.
Key Responsibilities- Lead by example and support the management team to run the shift
- Mentor and support newer staff members to ensure they have the skills and knowledge to provide high-quality care
- Encourage young people to participate in activities and take responsibility for their own lives, depending on their age and individual needs
- Maintain a safe and welcoming environment for young people, protecting them from risks to their health and welfare
- Provide support for the children and young people in the home, promoting their independence and well-being
- Ensure the safety of the students and maintain an up-to-date knowledge of the individual's care plan, guidelines, reward system, and preferred method of communication
- Support challenging behavior safely and sympathetically, developing and maintaining good working relationships with staff, parents, social workers, and other professionals involved in the young people's lives
- NVQ or QCF Level 3 in Children and Young People or equivalent is essential
- 2-year experience in a residential children's home environment is essential
- A full driving license is essential, as you may be required to transport the children from time to time
- Ability to work the shift pattern (8am-10pm plus sleep ins)
