Health and Safety Manager

We are a dynamic and growing manufacturing company specializing in advanced interactive humanoid robotics, with a team of 50 dedicated employees. Our company, Engineered Arts Ltd, is committed to ensuring a safe and compliant workplace while fostering continuous improvement in our processes.
We are seeking a knowledgeable and proactive Health, Safety and Facilities Manager to join our team to maintain and further enhance our safety culture and keep our facilities in top condition.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and Implement Safety Policies: Ensure compliance with UK health and safety legislation and industry best practices.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, such as COSHH, RIDDOR, DSEAR and PUWER.
- Reporting and Documentation: Maintain accurate health and safety records, including risk assessments, audits, accident reports, and employee training logs.
- Risk Assessments and Audits: Conduct regular risk assessments, site inspections, and safety audits to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions.
- Insurance Requirements: Effectively liaise with insurers to seek requirements, understand coverage and exclusions, and report incidents.
- Training and Education: Organize safety training, inductions, and ongoing education for employees, including specific instruction on equipment use, fire safety, health and safety compliance, and emergency procedures.
- Emergency Planning: Create and maintain emergency response plans, and lead evacuation drills.
- Incident Investigation: Lead investigations of accidents and near-misses, ensuring accurate reporting and documentation, and implementing preventive measures.
- Collaboration: Work closely with department managers, including operations, production, and quality control, to ensure that safety is integrated into all aspects of the business.
- Continuous Improvement: Recommend improvements to health and safety systems and processes, ensuring that the company is proactive in maintaining a safe working environment.
- Facilities Management: Regular checks of essential systems such as fire, HVAC, security systems, and lighting.
- Identification and Remedy of Potential or New Issues: Regular or emergency maintenance or upgrades.
- Liaising with Contractors: Organize contractor visits and ensure contractor compliance and performance.
- Facilities Hygiene and Cleanliness: Manage facilities hygiene and cleanliness.
- Essential: NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent in Occupational Health and Safety.
- Proven Experience: Proven experience as a Health and Safety Officer, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Strong Knowledge: Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation and industry best practices.
- Excellent Communication: Excellent communication and training skills, with the ability to engage employees at all levels.
- Attention to Detail: Attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently.
- Experience in Accident Investigation: Experience in accident investigation and root cause analysis.
Engineered Arts Ltd is the leading manufacturer of full-size humanoid robots used for entertainment, education, and communication. With 20 years of hardware and software development, our robots have been sold in over 30 countries worldwide with customers such as NASA, PwC, Meta, and many more.
Our Ameca robot is well known as 'the face of AI' and a social media viral success, taking advantage of the generative AI craze. Along with our ultra-realistic Mesmer range of animated figures, our robots continue to surprise and excite visitors at museums, theme parks, visitor attractions, and trade shows, as well as aid leading universities with AI and robotics research. Our robots are poised to break into the future mega-expansion service robot segment, with applications such as front of house, receptions, check-in desks, information points, and PoS. We are also exploring how our humanoid robot technology can disrupt other robotics sectors such as the growing cobot sub-segment of the industrial robotics market.
