Job Title: Specialist Study Skills Tutor

Beacon Support Ltd. is seeking a highly skilled Specialist Study Skills Tutor to join our team. As a Specialist Study Skills Tutor, you will work with Higher Education students who require one-to-one support with their studies.

About the Role

This is a specialist role that requires substantial experience of working with students with Autistic Spectrum Conditions (ASC) on a one-to-one basis. You will need to have a good working knowledge of assistive technologies and related AT study skills strategies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work with students with ASC to develop learning strategies that will improve their study skills and enable them to become independent learners.
  • Act as a facilitator to help students develop their learning strengths and overcome barriers to learning.
  • Use a range of strategies to support students with ASC, including individual learning plans and assistive technologies.
  • Work collaboratively with other members of the team to provide a comprehensive support service to students.
Requirements
  • Degree in a relevant field.
  • Teaching qualification.
  • Experience of working with students with ASC on a one-to-one basis.
  • Good working knowledge of assistive technologies and related AT study skills strategies.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to identify different strategies that enable students to build on their learning strengths.
  • Excellent organisational skills.
  • Accurate spelling and grammar skills.
  • Reliability and punctuality.
  • Ability to maintain a confidential and professional working relationship.
