We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Programme Manager to lead the Works Delivery and Area Services teams for the Central Route at Network Rail. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for delivering the CP7 programme of works in line with business requirements, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the programme team to deliver business and customer objectives, reviewing and confirming compliance with company governance, standards, and procedures.
  • Achieve programme outturn and margins as agreed with the Infrastructure Director/Executive lead.
  • Develop an appropriate strategy for the development and delivery of the programme work scope.
  • Identify priority opportunities within the programme and lead promotion and sharing of best practice between programmes.
  • Monitor planning to consider cross-programme requirements and support the effective delivery of contracted obligations.
  • Develop and improve relationships with key stakeholders, customers, and suppliers.
  • Develop and manage the programme team, ensuring adequate resources are available to deliver a flexible, competent, skilled, and effective workforce at all times.
  • Contribute as a member of the programme organisation's senior management team.
  • Lead compliance in corporate health, safety, quality, and environment processes for the programme.
  • Implement relevant parts of the renewals plan.
  • Sponsor audit of programme and project documentation.

Requirements

  • Member of a relevant professional body with chartered status and/or educated to degree level.
  • Relevant experience in the successful management of major programmes of work in the construction and/or rail industries.
  • Strong commercial focus and financially astute.
  • Knowledge of the principles of investment processes and procedures.
  • Knowledge of the principles of Health & Safety, quality, and environment legislation and best practice.
  • Excellent communication with demonstrable delivery of leadership and behavioural change within a large organisation.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Knowledge of/experience in the UK railway industry.
  • Knowledge of/experience within Infrastructure Projects/Capital Delivery.
  • Knowledge of the Construction Design and Management Regulations.
  • Railway maintenance experience.
  • Designated Competent Person (DCP) competence.
  • Successfully completed the Strategic Safety Management Course or equivalent.
