Educational Outdoor Programmes Coordinator

We are seeking an experienced practitioner to join our Harmeny Outdoors Team as an Outdoor Learning Facilitator. This is a permanent, full-time employed opportunity to provide high-quality outdoor learning opportunities for children with complex social, emotional and behavioural support needs.
About the RoleThis exciting opportunity will involve leading a range of outdoor activities and learning opportunities, such as canoeing, climbing, bushcraft, outdoor cooking and learning about the environment. The successful candidate will work 35 hours per week, Monday to Thursday, driving fleet vehicles to transport children and staff to outdoor learning activities offsite.
Main Responsibilities- Responsible to the Service Manager (Day Service and Harmeny Outdoors), providing a range of high-quality outdoor learning, adventurous and environmental activities for children with complex additional support needs.
- Facilitate a range of outdoor learning, adventurous and environmental activities, alongside the Harmeny Outdoors Team, Care and Education staff.
- Work in a therapeutic manner to help find solution-focused outcomes for children who have experienced early years trauma and can display behaviour that challenges.
- Actively engage with children in a caring, sensitive and encouraging way, building positive and trusting relationships and maintaining appropriate boundaries at all times.
- A qualification in outdoor education, youth work, or relevant professional experience gained within one of these disciplines.
- At least one nationally recognised leadership or coaching qualification and experience that enables you to lead a group in cycling, mountain biking, paddle sports or climbing.
- Ability to drive fleet vehicles.
- Knowledge and understanding of children who are looked after and with complex additional support needs, including knowledge of safeguarding and child protection issues.
- A competitive pro-rata salary of £30,109 to £31,961 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience.
- 35 days' (pro rata) holiday per year, inclusive of public holidays.
