About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Sanctions Governance Specialist to join our team at Allianz Commercial. In this role, you will be responsible for analyzing sanctions laws and regulations, providing support and guidance, and performing Economic Sanctions assessments for business referrals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze sanctions laws and regulations in respect of specific business exposures
  • Keep abreast of sanctions developments and provide guidance to the business accordingly
  • Perform Economic Sanctions assessments for business referrals and provide support and guidance to various stakeholders
  • Review sanctions relevant submissions, discuss relevant aspects, and support communication with clients and brokers
  • Improve processes or design new processes, provide reports and overviews, perform risk assessments, document initiatives, and provide a sound overview of initiatives and activities to the Head Sanction Unit to support steering and prioritization
  • Build, maintain, and improve sanctions databases and ensure consistent documentation across business applications (processes, exceptions, referrals, etc.)
  • Review and update training modules, organize face-to-face trainings, and develop awareness campaigns/messages and newsletters
Requirements
  • University degree in Law - preferably qualified lawyer
  • 5 years of professional experience in insurance or reinsurance or alternatively in the area of Economic Sanctions
  • Background in compliance, legal, or regulatory assessments
  • Good understanding of the insurance business and ideally of Allianz would be a plus
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management and staff and ability to function as part of a team
  • Experience in project management, process design, and/or stakeholder management
  • Compliance or financial crime knowledge or experience in underwriting or claims would be a plus
  • You are an open and forward-looking person, interested in learning new areas and sharing knowledge, expressing ideas and messages clearly and with confidence
  • Strong analytic skills and IT acumen
  • English skills are required; German skills would be very beneficial
