GSL Education is seeking a dedicated Mental Health Support Assistant to join their client schools in Sheffield.

Job Overview

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with SEMH needs.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of individual education plans (IEPs).
  • Support classroom activities and facilitate a positive learning environment.
  • Implement strategies to manage and improve student behavior.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, counsellors, and other support staff.
  • Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents.
  • Assist with the preparation of learning materials and resources.
Requirements
  • A recent degree or specialization in special education, psychology, social work, or a related field.
  • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of SEMH challenges and effective support strategies.
  • The ability to build positive and trusting relationships with students.
  • An updated CV covering the last ten years and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
