At Nationwide Building Society, we're looking for a talented Data Analytics Specialist - Risk to join our thriving Risk Decision & Data Science team. This exciting opportunity will enable you to leverage your expertise in machine learning and data science to drive business decisions across our Retail Lending portfolios.
About the Role:This is a fantastic chance to work with cutting-edge analytical tools and models, developing innovative solutions to complex business problems. As a Risk Manager – Data Science, you'll be responsible for enabling the delivery of high-quality, scalable data science models that optimise decisions across various areas, including Application, Behavioural, and Collections/Recoveries.
You'll lead multiple projects related to the ongoing development and maintenance of data science models, engaging senior stakeholders, and planning activities to ensure successful project execution. Your deep understanding of portfolio/member behaviour, different data science techniques, and ability to optimise modelling tools will be essential in this role.
Your Key Responsibilities:- Developing, documenting, and delivering advanced Machine Learning and Data Science models using relevant statistical techniques.
- Effectively planning and prioritising activities, collaborating with key stakeholders to deliver expert opinions on the best modelling solutions.
- Ensuring all Data Science model developments meet high quality standards, adhering to modelling standards and validation governance.
- Line managing, training, coaching, and mentoring less experienced team members in the application and best practice of Data Science modelling.
- Managing and providing technical leadership to a team, promoting a fantastic team culture alongside high performance.
As a Data Analytics Specialist - Risk, you'll engage with various teams, including Systems, Product Risk, Financial Crime, Collections, Recoveries, and Retail IRB Modelling & Model Validation. You'll also present your projects and insights to relevant modelling fora and business committees.
About You:To succeed in this role, you'll require:
- Demonstrable experience in delivering innovative Data Science solutions to address complex business problems, using coding in Python/R/SAS, or similar.
- Deep knowledge of different Data Science techniques, such as Gradient Boosting, Random Forests, Neural Networks, Support Vector Machines, unsupervised learning methodologies, etc.
- Hands-on experience leading, motivating, and mentoring colleagues to deliver advanced analytical tools for the business.
- Strong knowledge of Economic Crime and Credit Risk models.
- A proven track record of senior stakeholder management, with high-quality communication and influencing skills.
- A PhD, MSc, or strong quantitative degree ideally from a Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or related subject.
We offer a competitive salary of approximately £80,000 per annum, based on location and experience. Additionally, you'll benefit from our hybrid working approach, generous pension scheme, life assurance, and access to an annual performance-related bonus.
