As the Appointing Authority of The State of Maryland, the Health Officer provides strategic leadership in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating strategies to address community health needs.

Responsibilities:
  • Enforces laws and regulations that protect the health and safety of the public
  • Ensures residents have access to essential health services
  • Informs the public about disease prevention and promotes health behaviors

The ideal candidate will possess a degree in medicine from an accredited college or university, a master's degree in public health, and at least two years of experience as a licensed physician working in the field of public health.

This is a Management Service position and serves at the pleasure of the Appointing Authority. The evaluation process may include a rating of your application based on your education, training, and experience as they relate to the requirements of the position.

The estimated annual salary for this position is around $120,000-$150,000, depending on experience.
