Loans Support Officer - Loan Underwriting Opportunity

The Role - Loans Support Officer
Located in a zone 2 area, the credit union is a savings & loans cooperative that is dedicated to encouraging saving and dealing with debt. Owned and democratically controlled by its members, the credit union is seeking a hard-working and committed individual to serve as part of a small friendly team of Loans Support Officers.

Key Responsibilities:
We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic candidate to help us continue to build our successful cooperative business by:

  1. Establishing a rapport with members and applying credit control policies
  2. Assisting with loan decision making and maintaining high levels of member satisfaction
  3. Applying knowledge of loan underwriting processes and credit control procedures
  4. Training other employees in lending decisions and maintaining strict policy compliance
  5. Providing empathetic and persuasive verbal and written communication
  6. Working well with people and possessing an excellent telephone manner
  7. Utilizing practical expertise with Word and Excel IT programs
  8. Demonstrating a good understanding of written and spoken English
  9. Applying analytical skills and working with numbers
  10. Dealing with members struggling with debt in an empathetic manner

Requirements:
Applicants should have knowledge and understanding of the credit union movement and a commitment to its aims and objectives. A cover letter is required upon application.
