Job Summary

The Marriott International is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Engineer to join their team. As a key member of the hotel's management team, the successful candidate will be responsible for the overall maintenance and upkeep of the hotel's facilities, ensuring that they are safe, efficient, and meet the highest standards of quality.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and supervise a team of engineers and maintenance staff to ensure that all maintenance and repair work is carried out efficiently and effectively.

• Develop and implement maintenance schedules and programs to ensure that all equipment and facilities are properly maintained and that any potential issues are identified and addressed promptly.

• Oversee the procurement and management of all maintenance and repair services, including the selection and management of contractors and suppliers.

• Ensure that all maintenance and repair work is carried out in accordance with the hotel's safety and quality standards, and that all relevant regulations and laws are complied with.

• Develop and implement energy management and conservation programs to reduce the hotel's energy consumption and costs.

• Collaborate with other departments, including housekeeping, front office, and food and beverage, to ensure that all facilities and equipment are properly maintained and that any issues are addressed promptly.

Requirements

• HND/HNC Engineering or Electrical qualification or equivalent experience.

• Professional qualification in Engineering or Electrical vocation.

• Five to seven years of experience in a managerial/supervisory capacity in a hotel, hospital, or building.

• Experience of managing people and the provision of both hard and soft facility services to a client.

• Qualification in a facilities/technical based discipline and experience of sub-contractor supervision is an advantage.

• Good knowledge of mechanical and electrical equipment, plumbing and electrical systems, power, water and gas supplies.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with all levels of staff and management.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a flexible approach to work and a willingness to assist other managers/supervisors as required.
