Job Description:

We are seeking a Research Computing Specialist to join our team at the University of Cambridge. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing expert-level support for research computing activities, including designing and deploying cloud infrastructure, optimizing resource utilization, and collaborating with researchers to understand their computing needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and deploy cloud infrastructure on leading platforms such as AWS or Azure.
  • Collaborate with researchers to understand their computing needs and develop tailored solutions.
  • Work closely with the systems engineering team to ensure seamless integration with existing infrastructure.
  • Monitor and optimize cloud resource utilization to ensure efficient use of resources.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • Proven experience in cloud infrastructure design and deployment (AWS/Azure/GCP).
  • Strong understanding of Linux operating systems and networking principles.
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration tools (Docker/Kubernetes).
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Salary and Benefits:

£55,000 - £75,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus benefits including pension scheme, annual leave, and training opportunities.
