Job Opportunity in Genetic Toxicology

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Trainee Scientist to join our team in the Genetic Toxicology department at our pre-clinical development site in Harrogate, North Yorkshire.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a recent Biology graduate to develop their skills and knowledge in a dynamic and supportive environment. As a Trainee Scientist, you will assist in the production of laboratory work sheets, prepare and perform standard assays, and maintain laboratory equipment and records.

Main Responsibilities
  • Maintain lab cleanliness, supplies, and tidiness, including cleaning, calibrations, reagent preparation, and disposal.
  • Assist in maintaining laboratory equipment and equipment records within laboratory areas.
  • Assist in the production of laboratory work sheets for standard assays.
  • Assist in the preparation and performance of standard assays in the base lab area.
  • Learn to prepare solutions of all materials required to perform assays.
  • Perform maintenance of laboratory equipment and equipment records.
  • Assist with the preparation and performance of non-standard assays in the base lab area.
  • Learn to monitor Gene Tox site-specific temperature monitoring systems for equipment in the base lab area.
  • Learn to respond to alarm events for equipment monitored by Gene Tox site-specific temperature monitoring systems in the base lab area.
  • Document Quality Events (deviations) using the Veeva QMS system.

Requirements
  • Educated to BSc level in a relevant life science subject.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Good Laboratory Practice.
  • Previous experience of pipetting and aseptic techniques preferred.
  • Methodical with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to accurately read, record, and communicate information.
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations.
  • Familiarity with standard spreadsheet and word-processing software applications.
  • Communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
