HAR Labcorp Early Development Laboratories Limited is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Trainee Scientist to join our Genetic Toxicology department in Harrogate, North Yorkshire.

As a Trainee Scientist, you will have the opportunity to develop your existing lab skills, cross-train in different laboratories, and gain a wide variety of skills. You will be working with world-renowned research techniques and will have the chance to contribute to the development of new treatments and therapies.

The main responsibilities of this role include:

  • Maintaining lab cleanliness, supplies, and tidiness, including cleaning, calibrations, reagent preparation, and disposal.
  • Assisting in the production of laboratory worksheets for standard assays.
  • Preparing and performing standard assays in the base lab area.
  • Learning to prepare solutions of all materials required to perform the assays.
  • Performing maintenance of laboratory equipment and equipment records.
  • Assisting with the preparation and performance of non-standard assays in the base lab area.
  • Learning to monitor Gene Tox site-specific temperature monitoring systems for equipment in the base lab area.
  • Learning to respond to alarm events for equipment monitored by Gene Tox site-specific temperature monitoring systems in the base lab area.
  • Documenting Quality Events (deviations) using the Veeva QMS system.

Requirements

  • Educated to BSc level in a relevant life science subject.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Good Laboratory Practice.
  • Previous experience of pipetting and aseptic techniques preferred.
  • Methodical with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to accurately read, record, and communicate information.
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations.
  • Familiarity with standard spreadsheet and word-processing software applications.
  • Communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
