Job Summary

As a Media Relations Manager at Sainsbury's, you will play a critical role in protecting and promoting the company's reputation through effective management of media relations and issues impacting corporate reputation. This involves coordinating reactive press office activities, managing internal stakeholder communication on corporate and change issues, and developing proactive communication strategies to ensure positive and accurate coverage of Sainsbury's values in the media.

Key Responsibilities
  • Building relationships with key journalists and staying informed of current and future business risks.
  • Contributing to a collaborative team culture focused on continuous improvement and excellence in media relations.
  • Developing and implementing effective communication strategies to manage media relations and issues impacting corporate reputation.
  • Managing internal stakeholder communication on corporate and change issues.
  • Coordinating reactive press office activities.

Requirements
  • A media relations professional with experience gained in a high-profile press office or other news media environment.
  • Prior experience dealing with issues management and crisis communication situations.
  • A first-rate news sense and track record of delivering effective reactive and proactive communication strategies.
  • A broad range of media relations skills including writing statements, Q&As, briefing documents, blogs, and press releases.
  • Good understanding of the business environment, current affairs, and the media.
  • Good knowledge of a consumer-facing or FMCG business.
  • Knowledge and experience of consumer PR issues and proactive PR.
  • Experience of using digital channels to complement traditional media.
