Job Title: Finance and Operations Assistant

Sheridan Maine is collaborating with a Bristol-based organisation to recruit a Finance and Operations Assistant. This is a hybrid role, requiring a minimum of three days per week in the office.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Process supplier invoices and match them to purchase orders, coordinating with stakeholders for accuracy
  • Review aged payables and prepare weekly payment runs
  • Handle staff expense claims
  • Manage the accounts receivable ledger and draft invoices
  • Prepare monthly payroll files for Finance Manager review
  • Maintain HR system data and share scheme records
  • Organise company events and book travel for Directors
  • Manage facilities and health and safety issues with Finance Manager support
  • Calculate and post month-end entries (e.g., accruals, prepayments, grants)
  • Prepare month-end reconciliations and liaise with stakeholders for cost accuracy
  • Assist in preparing monthly management accounts and ensure proper allocation of costs and revenues
  • Support statutory audits and tax filings with the Finance Manager
  • Continuously improve and document financial processes
  • Assist with financial systems enhancements and deployments
Requirements:
  • A finance qualification (partial/full AAT or relevant degree) is beneficial but not required
  • Strong self-motivation with a proactive attitude and a desire to improve processes
  • Experience in finance operations and accounting is desirable but not essential
  • Familiarity with Xero is a plus but not mandatory
