Torbay Council: Foster Care Support Specialist

We are recruiting a skilled and experienced Social Worker to join our Children's Services team. As a Children's Services Professional, you will work closely with foster carers and their families to provide ongoing support and guidance.

The successful candidate should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, IT expertise, and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and external partners. They should be able to manage a caseload, undertake regular reviews, and develop effective strategies to support foster care placements.

A good understanding of the complexities of foster care and the needs of looked-after children are essential. Previous experience working within the fostering sector is highly desirable.

This role requires an Enhanced Criminal Record Check and the ability to communicate effectively with confidence and fluency in English.

About the Role

This full-time permanent position involves providing specialist support to foster carers and their families. The successful candidate will work in accordance with relevant legislation and standards, ensuring high-quality outcomes for vulnerable children.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with foster carers and their families
  • Provide regular support and guidance to foster carers, addressing any concerns or issues that may arise
  • Collaborate with other professionals to ensure comprehensive support for looked-after children
  • Contribute to the development of policies and procedures related to foster care
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Social Work qualification e.g. Dip SW, CQSW, CSS or equivalent
  • Current Registration Certificate from Social Work England
  • Substantial post-qualifying experience working in childcare services
  • Proven ability to work effectively with children, young people, families, and professionals
Salary and Benefits

The estimated salary for this role is £37,938 - £44,711 per year. We offer a contributory pension scheme and opportunities for career progression.
