Job Title: Clinical Audit Specialist - Cardiology

The Cardiac Cath Labs at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital (NNUH) are a fast-paced and innovative unit, providing elective and emergency services to patients undergoing diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures. We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Audit Specialist to join our team and take the lead on our auditing of patient outcomes and national data set submissions.

  • Undertake prospective collection and validation of in-hospital patient outcomes after admission with NSTEMI/STEMI and percutaneous coronary interventional procedures.
  • Review patient notes and extract relevant information regarding reportable complications after PCI procedures or admission with NSTEMI/STEMI.
  • Liaise with the Consultant lead for PCI audit and Cath Lab Governance, Education and Audit Lead to resolve uncertainties about reportable complications.
  • Update the electronic database (Intellect) with patient outcomes after PCI procedures.
  • Assist with the completion, validation and submission of the BCIS, MINAP, HF and NACR national datasets to the National Institute for Cardiovascular Outcomes Research (NICOR).

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, clinical experience in Cath Labs, and the ability to manage their own time effectively to meet nationally mandated data submission deadlines. Knowledge and experience of the audit process and understanding of data quality are essential for this position.
