About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Clinically Registered Practitioner to join our team as an Audit and Improvement Officer in Cardiology. As a key member of our department, you will play a crucial role in maintaining high standards in our data quality and submissions to national registries.

Working closely with our Cardiology Governance, Education and Audit Lead, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and validity of patient data, interpreting results, and suggesting areas for improvement. Your clinical background and experience in Cath Labs will be invaluable in this role.

Main Responsibilities
  • Undertake prospective collection and validation of in-hospital patient outcomes after admission with NSTEMI/STEMI and percutaneous coronary interventional procedures.
  • Review patient notes and extract relevant information regarding reportable complications after PCI procedures or admission with NSTEMI/STEMI.
  • Liaise with the Consultant lead for PCI audit and Cath Lab Governance, Education and Audit Lead where necessary to resolve uncertainties about reportable complications.
  • Update the electronic database (Intellect) with patient outcomes after PCI procedures, under the guidance of the cardiology data managers.
  • Assist with the completion, validation and submission of the BCIS, MINAP, HF and NACR national datasets to the National Institute for Cardiovascular Outcomes Research (NICOR).
  • Ensure maintenance of competence in own clinical background to support the service as required, through undertaking clinical shifts in the Cath Labs as agreed with the Cath Lab Manager.

  • Clinically registered practitioner.
  • Significant experience relevant to specialty.
  • Ability to interrogate patient's medical records and extract relevant information for audit purposes.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritise tasks and seek help when necessary.
