About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Medical Secretary/Personal Assistant to join our Haematology Oncology team at The Christie NHS FT. As a key member of our team, you will provide high-quality secretarial and administrative support to our Consultants and their teams, ensuring a smooth and efficient service to our patients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Liaise closely with Consultants to provide a full secretarial service, including typing, dealing with queries, and maintaining case notes.
  • Diary management for Consultants, including scheduling meetings and appointments.
  • Provide secretarial support to junior doctors and nurse clinicians, as required.
  • Disseminate correspondence and documentation, including confidential materials.
  • Organise and schedule consultant meetings, maintaining an up-to-date diary.
  • Liaise with staff at all levels, answering enquiries and taking action as necessary.
  • Answer patient and relative enquiries, referring to Consultants when necessary.
  • Liaise with internal and external departments to arrange clinical investigations and procedures.
  • Ensure accurate input of patient details into information databases and Patient Administration System (CareFlow).
  • Receive new patient referrals, ensuring timely registration and booking of appointments.
  • Liaise with day unit staff to book chemotherapy and other treatment appointments.
