Retail Operations Director

About the Role:
We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Retail Operations Director to join our team at ELIE SAAB. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing our retail strategy across Europe, driving business growth, and ensuring the success of our boutiques.
Key Responsibilities:
Retail Strategy- Develop and Implement Retail Strategy: Create and execute a comprehensive retail strategy that aligns with our corporate goals, driving revenue, profit, and growth targets.
- Market Research and Analysis: Conduct market research studies and analysis to inform our retail strategy and business plans.
- Sales and Expansion Opportunities: Identify and capitalize on sales and expansion opportunities across Europe.
- Standards and Monitoring: Establish and monitor standards for sales, rotation, and loss across all boutiques.
- Brand Growth: Lead the growth of our brand geographically, researching and identifying potential markets and proposing new boutique locations.
- Policies and Procedures: Develop and communicate retail-related policies and procedures in coordination with the Retail Director, Managing Director, and concerned Head of Departments.
- KPIs and Performance: Monitor and follow up on key performance indicators, selling ceremonies, customer experience, and journey.
- Market Analysis: Analyze market segments, prices, and competition to inform product buying decisions.
- Collection Buying and Orders: Manage collection buying and orders to all boutiques based on sales reports, market segmentation, and client feedback.
- Product Distribution: Coordinate the distribution of products to boutiques based on markets, quotas, and goals.
- Inventory Management: Control and supervise orders' quantities, inventory results, and sales preparations.
- Merchandise Management: Ensure merchandise is delivered to boutiques on time, priced, and well displayed.
- Recommendations: Recommend additions/withdrawals of merchandise to boutiques.
- Sales Figures and Inventory: Review, evaluate, and report boutiques' sales figures, cost of inventory, operational expenses, and inventory loss to determine targets' achievements.
- Profit Maximization: Provide suggestions to management on how to maximize profits and reduce loss at every boutique level.
- Action Plans: Develop action plans to follow up on discrepancies as required and take full ownership and accountability over the boutiques' P&L account.
- Site Visits: Perform periodic site visits to ensure store and brand image are maintained at required standards.
- Warehouse Management: Manage warehouse operations in coordination with the Inventory Control Department.
- Stock Room Layout: Plan layout of stock rooms, warehouses, and other storage areas considering product turnover and quantities.
- Retail Events: Plan and organize retail-related events (promotions, sales) in coordination with concerned departments and suppliers.
- Visual Merchandising: Supervise visual merchandising activity and determine merchandising layouts that are appealing to customers to obtain optimum efficiency of operations with minimum cost and maximize profits.
- Customer Satisfaction: Ensure customer satisfaction is kept at high standards.
- Customer Retention: Develop and promote customer retention strategies.
- Staffing: Ensure all stores are adequately staffed.
- Recruitment and Development: Coordinate with HR Department on recruiting, developing, and evaluating boutique managers and sales teams.
- Training: Coordinate with Learning Department on training boutique managers and sales teams.
- Sales Management Culture: Take a lead role in building a strong sales management culture; coach boutique managers, assess team performance, identify skills and opportunities for development, and provide advice and guidance when needed.
- Training Sessions: Prepare and provide training sessions to boutique managers and sales teams on new collections and products.
- KPIs and Compensation: Coordinate with HR Department, Retail Director, and Managing Director on setting KPIs, compensation, and incentive plans to improve teams' performances and retention.
Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, MBA is a plus.
- Experience: At least 12 years in a managerial operational position in the high-end retail fashion industry.
- Competencies: Strong analytical, communication, and negotiation skills; strong problem-solving, dealing with complexities, and decision-making skills; leadership and senior team management skills; high drive and results-oriented; ability to manage a portfolio of around $25M; takes initiative; lead by example; good team player with internal stakeholders; commercial savvy with luxury; accountable for buying budget; management of stock and inventory.
