Digital Preservation Specialist

About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled Digital Preservation Specialist to join our team at the Digital Preservation Coalition. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in ensuring the long-term preservation and accessibility of digital content.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the development of digital preservation strategies and policies.
- Lead the ingest of born digital and digitized content, and oversee workflows and processes for data from various systems.
- Oversee the digitization and migration of audio-visual material.
- Manage the day-to-day operations of our digital archive system, Preservica.
- Lead contact with vendors and suppliers.
- Conduct regular audits and statistics for senior leadership.
- Supervise staff working on digital preservation projects.
- Represent the organization within the digital preservation community and research best practices.
- Develop project and budget proposals for digital preservation initiatives.
- Conduct annual audits and assessments.
- Seek out continuous improvements in digital preservation methods and tools.
- Support the development of public-facing digital content and digital rewire programs.
- Advocate for digital preservation and build strong relationships between technical and non-technical colleagues.
Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Strong knowledge of digital preservation principles and practices.
- Experience with digital archive systems and workflows.
- Excellent communication and project management skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
