Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and capable Health and Safety professional to join our dynamic quality team. As a Senior Health & Safety Advisor, you will provide health and safety support to all departments, with a strong level of support to lab-based teams. You will be responsible for routine safety activities, including writing risk assessments, COSHH assessments, investigating and closing accident and near-miss events.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide health & safety guidance to all teams, strengthening our positive health and safety culture.
  • Work with teams to prepare risk assessments, COSHH assessments and standard operating procedures.
  • Identify potential hazards and determine fit-for-purpose solutions of reducing risks.
  • Provide health and safety training. Work with teams to ensure up-to-date training records for all team members.
  • Ensure that H&S critical equipment is maintained and serviced on time.
  • Perform internal health and safety audits.
  • Investigate accident and near-miss reports and track the implementation of improvement actions.
  • Run health and safety meetings.
  • Keep up to date and ensure compliance with current health and safety legislation.
Requirements
  • A BSc in Biological Sciences or similar.
  • Experience of working in a laboratory is essential.
  • IOSH or NEBOSH training is required.
  • Excellent inter-personal skills, the ability to build and develop relationships.
  • Diligent and organised, with the ability to accurately record data.
  • A creative approach to problem solving and the development of applied solutions.
  • Strong attention to detail, with excellent timekeeping standards and responsiveness.
  • Self-starting, with the ability to work independently and be a strong team player.
  • Good written English and oral communication skills.
  • Competent in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
