Job Summary

We are seeking an exceptional Chief Medical Officer to join our team at Barts Health NHS Trust. As a key member of our Group Executive leadership team, you will play a crucial role in shaping our clinical strategy and ensuring the delivery of safe, compassionate, and effective care for our diverse population.

The successful candidate will have substantial experience in medical leadership and a proven track record in medical leadership at senior levels, preferably at Board level. You will bring a deep understanding of clinical governance, quality improvement, and experience leading complex organisational change.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Trust's plans to improve clinical outcomes, reduce health inequalities, and ensure that high standards of care are consistently met across all sites.
  • Collaborate with the Chief Nursing Officer to foster a multidisciplinary approach to clinical care, prioritising patient safety and experience through robust clinical governance frameworks.
  • Drive clinical transformation, ensuring our hospitals are well-positioned to take advantage of new technologies and innovations.

Requirements:

  • Substantial experience at consultant level in a large teaching NHS Trust.
  • An outstanding track record as a clinician and clinical leader, with a proven record of producing high quality clinical services for patients.
  • Significant senior medical leadership in a large teaching NHS Trust, preferably at Board level.
