Occupational Therapist for Stroke Unit Leadership

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Occupational Therapist to lead our dynamic Stroke Unit at University Hospital Lewisham, part of Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust.

With a strong track record in senior positions within relevant specialties, the ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of evidenced-based Occupational Therapy for designated specialist pathways. They will be responsible for providing leadership to junior staff, conducting audits and evidence-based projects, and contributing to service development.

The successful applicant will have a sound understanding of clinical governance, national guidelines, and standards pertaining to specialist pathways and Occupational Therapy. Additionally, they will possess robust communication skills, enabling them to effectively present to multidisciplinary teams, undergraduate, and postgraduate staff.

This is an excellent opportunity to join our team as a Band 7 Occupational Therapist, with a competitive salary range estimated at £61,710 - £91,954 per annum, depending on experience. As a key member of our leadership team, you will play a vital role in directing and enhancing the development of our Stroke Unit.

Main Duties:

  • To provide leadership and supervision to a team of Occupational Therapists across the specialty
  • Maintain accurate records that fulfill legal requirements
  • Lead and manage the Occupational Therapy team in the Stroke Unit
  • Participate in the planning, development, and evaluation of O.T. services within the Stroke Unit

Person Specification:

  • Diploma/Degree in Occupational Therapy
  • Undertaken relevant postgraduate courses, clinical educators training, and managerial training
  • Extensive postgraduate Occupational Therapy experience, including senior positions within relevant specialties
  • Experience in leading and completing audit and evidence-based projects, supervising and appraising staff and students, and presenting to large MDT groups
