Job Title: Lead English Teacher - SEN School

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Lead English Teacher to join our team at a special educational needs school in Lancashire. As a key member of our staff, you will be responsible for coordinating and enhancing the English curriculum, literacy, and phonics across the school.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive English curriculum that meets the needs of our students with SEMH difficulties.
  • Manage and assess progress in English, literacy, and phonics, ensuring that students make significant gains.
  • Oversee and track literacy and phonics interventions, working closely with colleagues to ensure effective support.
  • Provide training and updates to staff on best practices in English teaching and learning.
  • Report on progress and teaching quality to the Senior Leadership Team, informing strategic decisions.
  • Act as Careers Officer, ensuring alignment with the Gatsby Benchmarks and providing guidance to students.
Requirements:
  • PGCE, QTS, Cert Ed, or an equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Experience working with students with SEMH difficulties, SLD/PMLD, or ASD.
  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
  • Experience managing challenging behaviors and a range of therapeutic approaches.
