About the Role

We are looking for a motivated and dedicated individual with a passion for delivering high-quality patient care. As a Senior Neurological Therapist, you will be responsible for assessing and treating patients with neurological disabilities and complex needs. You will also provide specialist occupational therapy input to neurological wards, critical care units, acute services, rehabilitation services, outpatients, and clinics.

You will work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement effective treatment plans, ensuring that patients receive the best possible care. Your expertise in manual handling techniques, risk management strategies, and therapeutic interventions will be invaluable in this role.

Key Responsibilities

  • To identify, prioritize, and manage patients presenting with neurological impairments who require occupational therapy input.
  • To assess and treat patients with neurological disabilities and complex needs who would benefit from a coordinated multidisciplinary assessment, rehabilitation, and discharge services.
  • To be competent in the administration of specific neurological occupational therapy assessments of motor, sensory, cognitive, perceptual deficits, psychosocial needs, and occupational performance.
  • To be competent in the development and implementation of remedial, compensatory, and preventative treatment programs addressing motor, sensory, cognitive, perceptual, psychosocial, and occupational areas.
  • To provide specialist occupational therapy input to neurological wards, critical care units, acute services, rehabilitation services, outpatients, and clinics.
  • To identify risks, complete risk assessments, and implement risk management strategies, including the use of Therapeutic Manual Handling techniques and the Lone Working Policy.

Requirements

  • A degree or equivalent in Occupational Therapy and registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • Experience working in the NHS and in an acute physical setting.
  • Experience working as an OT in neuro and with patients, families, and carers.
  • Evidence of taking initiative in own learning and development and review of clinical practice.
