The Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience (IoPPN) is a Faculty of King's College London, the largest academic community in Europe devoted to the study and prevention of mental illness and brain disease.

The School of Mental Health & Psychological Sciences (MHaPS) is one of three schools under the IoPPN, comprising four departments: Psychology; Social, Genetic & Developmental Psychiatry (SGDP); Health Service & Population Research; and Biostatistics & Health Informatics.

We are seeking a Senior Technician to join our dynamic team to support researchers and students within our lab environment. This role offers a fantastic opportunity for a highly motivated individual with a sound understanding of the higher education research laboratory landscape.

This full-time position involves working autonomously and liaising directly with stakeholders from Principal Investigators (PI), researchers, students, and department/school leadership.

Salary Information

We offer a competitive salary range of £30,000 - £35,000 per annum, depending on experience.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Support researchers and students in our lab environment
  2. Liaise directly with various stakeholders, including Principal Investigators (PI), researchers, students, and department/school leadership
  3. Work autonomously and efficiently to manage tasks and projects

Essential Criteria

  • Previous experience of working in a research laboratory and/or HEI environment
  • Knowledge of working with Risk Assessment and safe systems of work
  • Experience in the writing, assessment, and development of health and safety documentation
  • Experience in stock control and management
  • Experience in health and safety inspections and auditing
  • Good oral and written communication skills and experience in using relevant IT systems
