Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Project Coordinator to support our research team at the European Drosophila Society. The successful candidate will work closely with our scientists to oversee laboratory operations, coordinate fly stocks, and assist with daily experiments.

About the Role

This is a full-time position offering a fixed-term contract of 24 months. The postholder will be based in our laboratory and required to work on-site 5 days a week. We offer a competitive salary of £40,000 - £45,000 per annum, commensurate with experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • To oversee the day-to-day running of the Drosophila laboratory, ensuring efficient use of resources and effective collaboration among team members;
  • To coordinate the maintenance and organization of fly stocks, including ordering supplies and managing inventory;
  • To assist senior technicians with experimental design, data collection, and analysis;
  • To maintain accurate records of experiments, results, and procedures;
  • To collaborate with researchers from King's College London and The University of Manchester to coordinate experiments and share findings;
Requirements

We are looking for an individual with:

A minimum level 3 qualification (e.g., A levels, AS levels, International Baccalaureate diploma) or equivalent experience in a relevant technical/scientific field;Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment;Good project planning and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously;Previous experience working in a biological laboratory, with a strong understanding of laboratory techniques and safety protocols;Familiarity with computer programming and proficiency in Microsoft Office packages;
