Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sterile Services Team Leader to join our team at South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our Sterile Services department, you will be responsible for leading and managing a team of Sterile Services Operatives, ensuring the highest standards of decontamination and sterilisation of medical devices for use in clinical areas across our Trust sites and outlying clinics.

Main Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage a team of Sterile Services Operatives, ensuring efficient and effective service delivery.
  • Maintain strict adherence to infection control protocols and safety standards.
  • Coordinate daily operations, including prioritisation of workload and ensuring timely processing of instruments.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional development within the team.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and guidelines.
  • Collaborate closely with clinical departments to understand and meet their needs.
  • Conduct regular audits and implement corrective actions to maintain the highest standards of quality and safety.
Requirements
  • Level 3 SSD Supervisors/Managers course in Decontamination of Medical Equipment (or equivalent) or willing to complete within 12 months of appointment.
  • Previous experience of working in production or quality controlled environment.
  • Experience of working to tight deadlines.
  • Experience of coordinating a production process.
