Position Title: Learning Support Assistant

Location: Sunderland

Contract Type: Long-term

Leader Recruitment Group is seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join a Special Education Needs and Disabilities (SEND) institution.

This secondary school serves young individuals aged 11-19 years who experience Autism and/or complex learning challenges.

With a recent Ofsted rating of 'Good', the school is supported by a committed team of professionals working collaboratively to deliver exceptional educational experiences for their students.

The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in fostering a positive learning atmosphere, providing essential support and guidance to pupils.

The standard working hours are Monday to Friday from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, and this is a long-term opportunity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Possess a fully enhanced DBS on the update service or be prepared to obtain one.
  • Demonstrate experience in a relevant role.
  • Support students during lessons and activities.
  • Exhibit flexibility and resilience to meet the varied needs of learners.
  • Collaborate effectively with parents, caregivers, and multidisciplinary teams to provide optimal support.
  • Engage confidently with students, ensuring they receive comprehensive assistance in their learning and classroom activities.
  • Utilize communication skills tailored to accommodate students of diverse abilities.
