About this Role:

As a key member of our team at SMT GB, we are seeking an experienced Equipment Maintenance Specialist to cover East Anglia, the South East, and the South Coast.

This role focuses on delivering exceptional service to both internal and external customers, identifying opportunities for revenue growth, and collaborating with colleagues and management to drive success.

The responsibilities include:

  • Carrying out routine maintenance and repairs on Dynapac and Volvo road construction equipment, as well as other miscellaneous machinery.
  • Utilizing technical knowledge and computerized diagnostic tools to identify mechanical issues and provide guidance to customers.
  • Working in a commercially focused manner to seek additional service revenue opportunities and promote aftermarket solutions.
  • Adhering to quotations and time guidelines, while highlighting any additional work requirements to management.
  • Ensuring software updates are installed as new versions become available.
  • Completing electronic reports, tablet inputs, and timesheets in real-time, providing comprehensive details of work performed.
  • Ordering necessary parts and returning them in clean condition at job completion.
  • Able to work overtime as needed and honour reasonable call-out requests.
  • Attending relevant product or systems training courses.

Requirements

We are looking for individuals with:

  • A formal engineering qualification in Plant Maintenance, Agricultural/HGV mechanics, or a related field (e.g., NVQ 3/C&G).
  • Relevant experience in heavy construction plant repair and maintenance, including diesel engines, transmissions, drive lines, hydraulics, and electrics.
  • Advanced diagnostic and trouble-shooting skills, along with a comprehensive understanding of hydraulics, electrics, and EATS.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively interact with colleagues, management, and customers.
  • A cost-conscious mindset to ensure maximum profitability.
  • Ability to problem-solve and possess high-level diagnostic skills.
  • Confidence in using computer systems and Microsoft Outlook.
  • High attention to detail and conscientiousness in all aspects of the job.
  • Responsibility, reliability, honesty, and trustworthiness.
  • Ability to understand technical literature and systems.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience with Welding and Fabrication.
