This is a senior role within the Platform Nuclear Engineering Department, supporting the design, build & test activities on the Naval Reactor Plant (NRP) across multiple programmes.
Key Responsibilities- Liaise with build organisation and provide engineering support to ensure the as-built product reflects design intent.
- Understand key requirements and critical dimensions for major structural components.
- Lead on design changes affecting major structural components, originating from emergent issues or process improvements.
- Support or act as the engineering member of test and authorisation groups.
- Develop knowledge of the unique build sequence of the Reactor Compartment Unit and provide engineering support.
- Participate in the planning and execution of all major construction evolutions with the scope of the Reactor Compartment Unit.
- Present sound technical solutions to issues arising during construction of the Naval Reactor Plant.
- Provide technical rationale and recommendations to Rolls-Royce and MoD to challenge existing requirements.
- Engineering degree level qualification in Mechanical or Structural disciplines.
- Able to interpret mechanical drawings, including geometric dimensioning and tolerancing knowledge.
- Awareness of weld engineering and Non-Destructive Examination techniques.
- Technical report writing skills and experience justifying design change.
