Position Overview:
This role is pivotal within the Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, contributing to a groundbreaking initiative aimed at enhancing the safety of time-sensitive medications.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the execution and advancement of a comprehensive program supporting the NHS Specialist Pharmacy Service (SPS) Medicines Use and Safety (MUS) team's objectives related to the national Medicines Safety Improvement Programme (MedSIP).
  • Collaborate closely with the national MedSIP team and other significant external partners to develop and implement national initiatives for improving medication safety.
  • Support the creation, implementation, and upkeep of high-quality MUS resources for commissioners, organizations, and healthcare professionals, which may include webinars, podcasts, videos, articles, and collaborative platforms.
  • Conduct stakeholder interviews to gather insights for an appreciative inquiry focused on improving time-critical medication processes.

Work Environment:
This position is primarily remote, allowing for flexibility while being hosted by the Liverpool University Hospitals Foundation Trust. It is a part-time role with a 0.4 whole time equivalent, offered on a fixed-term basis.

About the Medicines Use and Safety (MUS) Team:
Our esteemed team interprets regulations and guidelines for NHS organizations and practitioners, advocating for safe patient care throughout the medication management process. We maintain strong connections with frontline professionals and collaborate with policymakers and strategic leaders to share local expertise within our extensive clinical networks.

  • Deliver results within established timelines by liaising with relevant stakeholders across the healthcare system.
  • Develop and maintain accurate resources on the SPS website, ensuring compliance with current policies and governance requirements.
  • Contribute to MUS workstream outputs, including networking events and collaborative initiatives.
  • Facilitate the integration of SPS outputs to maximize efficiency and productivity across the country.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in data management, analysis, and communication, handling large volumes of information effectively.
  • Present findings and data collected by the MUS Team at national meetings and conferences.
  • Engage with practitioners and subject matter experts to gather valuable insights through regional networks.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of health policy developments impacting MUS outputs and inform business planning.
