Position Overview

We invite you to become a vital member of our pharmacy team at Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, collaborating closely with our clinical staff on the wards to manage medication supplies for patients.

In partnership with the technical team, you will play a significant role in the distribution and provision of medications, as well as in the training and development of various personnel within pharmacy services.

A solid understanding of hospital pharmacy is essential, as you will be instrumental in ensuring that patients have access to their medications throughout their hospital stay and upon discharge.

We seek a driven and enthusiastic individual eager to enhance their existing skills. You should be organized, adaptable, possess outstanding communication abilities, and demonstrate a strong attention to detail.

As a team player, you should be capable of working independently and maintaining a positive approach to delivering high-quality service while adhering to deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

As a Lead Pharmacy Technician - Medicines Management, your duties will include:

  1. Dispensing and issuing medications from the Pharmacy Department, including controlled substances and clinical trial products, in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  2. Providing an effective medication supply service to various wards and departments, ensuring timely access to the correct medications for patients.
  3. Receiving medications into the Pharmacy Department and ensuring accurate documentation and data entry.
  4. Maintaining inventory levels and managing stock control to ensure adequate supplies are available.
  5. Supervising the work of pharmacy assistants, prioritizing tasks effectively, and contributing to their training and development.
  6. Participating in weekend, holiday, and evening shifts as required by the Pharmacy Directorate.

Qualifications and Experience

To be successful in this role, you should possess:

  • NVQ level 2 in pharmaceutical sciences or an equivalent qualification.
  • Demonstrable experience in a pharmacy environment, including experience in dispensing prescriptions or preparing aseptic products.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work effectively in a busy environment.
  • A proactive attitude, with a commitment to continuous learning and improvement.
