Position Overview

Work Schedule:

This role requires a commitment of hours per week, typically spanning four 8-hour days from Monday to Friday, with one weekend shift covering either Saturday or Sunday.

Applicants should possess a minimum of grade 4 in Maths and English (or equivalent), which can be achieved through functional skills if not already attained.

Main Duties:

The Pharmacy Support Technician, under guidance, will assist in the medication dispensing process, including receiving, verifying, storing, and preparing stock items within the dispensary.

Responsibilities also include managing pharmaceutical inventory and ensuring proper stock distribution to wards and clinics, while maintaining accurate storage practices.

The role involves providing a welcoming, professional, and informative service to all customers utilizing the dispensary outpatient service.

Housekeeping duties will include ensuring adequate supplies of containers, labels, and other necessary materials are available in the dispensary.

Additionally, the Pharmacy Support Technician will handle phone inquiries and address basic internal and external questions.

Job Responsibilities:

4. Assist in the dispensing of various types of prescriptions in accordance with established safety protocols.

5. Help maintain stock levels, check expiration dates, and ensure a tidy workspace.

6. Contribute to the smooth operation of the dispensary, including prescription processing.

7. Provide basic patient counseling under the supervision of a pharmacist or technician.

8. Supply stock items to wards and departments, ensuring proper inventory management.

9. Process orders using the pharmacy management system.

10. Input data into the pharmacy computer system as required.

11. Assist in the receipt, storage, and distribution of pharmaceutical products.

12. Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance pharmaceutical knowledge.

13. Adhere to health and safety regulations and infection control policies.

14. Engage in stock audits and assist in the development of computerized inventory systems.

15. Serve as a mentor for new staff and students within the pharmacy team.

16. Collaborate with various team members to resolve supply issues and ensure optimal patient service.

17. Undertake any additional duties as required.
