We are in search of two outstanding pharmacy technicians to oversee our dispensary operations across our two primary facilities.
We are looking for a skilled and driven Pharmacy Technician Supervisor to guide and manage our pharmacy dispensary personnel in a high-energy hospital setting. The ideal candidate will possess a solid history of excellence in pharmacy management, a dedication to advancement, and the capability to motivate and lead a committed team of professionals.
As a member of our Technical Leadership Team across all locations, the successful candidates must exhibit strong interpersonal abilities, along with the capacity to lead, collaborate, and inspire our technician teams.
The selected individuals will be responsible for leading, developing, delivering, monitoring, and assessing all facets of pharmacy dispensary technical services.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct, manage, and mentor a team of pharmacy technicians and assistants, fostering professional growth and high performance.
- Supervise daily operations of the pharmacy dispensary services, ensuring efficient and precise medication pathways.
- Introduce and oversee innovative practices to improve workflow, patient safety, and service quality.
- Ensure adherence to all regulatory standards, hospital policies, and best practices.
- Collaborate with pharmacy staff and other healthcare professionals to optimize medication management.

Job Responsibilities
- Lead the pharmacy dispensing service, including strategic planning and the ongoing enhancement of patient care processes.
- Maintain a visible and approachable presence within the dispensary service, ensuring staff, patients, and their families can seek guidance and support.
- Collaborate with other Technical Services Supervisors to standardize practices and promote integrated operations.
- Oversee the strategic direction of the dispensing service, ensuring it meets the Trust's requirements.
- Ensure systems are established to manage the dispensing and distribution of medications safely and effectively, in compliance with relevant legislation and policies.
- Manage stock control of medications within the dispensary, ensuring safe and efficient storage and distribution.
- Lead the development and evaluation of the dispensing service provided to other organizations under service level agreements.
- Ensure adequate staffing of the pharmacy department throughout the week, overseeing schedules and workload distribution.
- Manage the performance and professional development of dispensary staff through regular check-ins and appraisals.
- Ensure compliance with all HR policies and procedures for dispensary staff.
- Develop and maintain robust business continuity plans for the pharmacy dispensing service.
- Ensure compliance with pharmacy standards and prepare for inspections.
Qualifications and Experience
- NVQ LEVEL 3 in Pharmaceutical Sciences or equivalent.
- Accredited accuracy checker.
- Management or leadership training or experience.
- Proven experience managing a team of technicians.
- Significant experience in hospital pharmacy services.
- Previous experience in a leadership role.
- Experience in maintaining high standards of clinical services and technician development.
Skills and Knowledge
- Strong influencing and communication skills.
- Excellent written communication skills, including report writing.
- Ability to work strategically within the pharmacy department.
- Proven track record of innovation and openness to new initiatives.
- Methodical approach with attention to detail.
